When you think about your Internet business, what is that one technique or strategy that generates success for you? The reason I ask this is because there are so many different ways to earn a living online and for someone just starting out it can be very difficult to choose what you want to focus your time and energy on.

Succeeding online can be tricky because you are constantly being pulled in a million different directions. You've got the Guru's coming at you with the latest and greatest system that will make you a millionaire overnight (ya right!), you've got traffic generation methods, ways to build lists, strategies to optimize websites, methods of tracking sales etc..

As you get started with Internet marketing you need to know which "way" you are going. Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

Let's say you are brand new to Internet marketing and you don't have a clue about how to get started. Of course the first thing that you want to work on is learning how Internet marketing works. After you get a grip on how people earn a living online, you need to work on learning a single aspect, technique, or strategy.

You might focus your time on learning how to build a website (not something to be afraid of), or maybe you focus your time on SEO (search engine optimization) which will allow you to drive free traffic to your affiliate links. Whatever it is, you need to work on a single aspect of Internet marketing and do it well.

Once you have mastered a single technique, you can start working on others.

What you DO NOT want to do is be influenced by others that pull you in one direction, then tell you to go another. Choose someone that you trust, learn from them, and focus on doing things right.

The SINGLE most common reason people fail is because of frustration. This frustration stems from being overwhelmed by the many different ways things can be done. The good news is that you've got many choices in how to create a successful business online. The bad news is that without a clear path and the motivation to focus on one thing at a time, it is very easy to want to just QUIT!
