"The North Country National Scenic Trail (NCNST), planned to stretch more than 4,600 miles from Crown Point in eastern New York to Lake Sakakawea in western North Dakota, is the longest of the eight National Scenic Trails authorized by Congress. Like its sister trails – the Appalachian, Continental Divide, Florida, Ice Age, Natchez Trace, Pacific Crest and Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trails – it was designed to provide peaceful recreational opportunities in some of America's outstanding landscapes."
Here is a link that can explain the North Country Trail better for you.
We are fortunate enough to live near this trail system as it passes through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Normally you would have to walk 5 plus miles in from the main road to get to this shelter. But we know a super secret way to drive in through the woods and we came within a mile of the shelter.
We had a very nice trip and here are some of the pictures we took.

The sign announcing that the shelter is shortly ahead.

A nice picture of us walking down the trail as it is getting near the river.

The backside of the Orem Krumm Shelter. Our friends Dave and Alva showed us how to get here but Alva doesn't like having her pic taken.

The fire pit and sitting area that overlooks the river on a 20 foot bluff.

Our bear dog Jack at the bottom of the bluff. I wish I had taken better pics of the river for everyone because it was truly beautiful.

Dave and I starting the fire in the fire pit. You need fire to keep the bugs off of you while you're there.

Gregory is in front of the Oren Krumm Shelter. It has that screen wall to make it comfortable during the summer months.

Gregory, Jack and I inside the Oren Krumm Shelter. It has 2 sets of bunk beds and a table in between them. You can see the fireproof lock box that holds journals from all of the shelter's visitors.

Another picture of the fire pit that overlooks the river.

And last but not least, my beautiful girlfriend Ronda taking another picture of herself, like usual.
We had a very wonderful time going to the Oren Krumm Shelter that day. It was absolutely spectacular scenery, and I am so glad that I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
I could not afford to live here if I didn't make such a good income online. That is why I post pictures of the trips we take around here, We are so lucky to be able to live, work, and play here in God's country. I am truly blesssed!
"In God's wilderness lies the hope of the world,
the great, fresh, unblighted, unredeemed wilderness."
—John Muir (1838-1914)
